While serving as the Director of Finance for Merit School of Music, a nationally accredited community music school in Chicago, I handled all aspects of accounting and finance for the organization. These responsibilities included monthly financial reporting, audit management, banking, payroll, and employee benefits. In addition to managing the entire budgeting/forecasting process, expense control and capital planning, I was the liaison to Board’s Finance and Investment Committees. I provided oversight for building maintenance and external rentals, supervision of the Student Service department, and directed all Human Resource activities.

From March through September 2015, I stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director and provided continuity for Merit during their search for an Executive Director.

Prior to joining Merit School of Music in 2011, I worked as a Finance Manager for the Jewish Community Center in Chicago gaining valuable experience in the intricacies relating to non-profit accounting practices. And, while living in Houston, I worked for Coca-Cola Enterprises as a Sales Analysis Manager learning about the structure, discipline and best practices that come from working for a large for-profit organization.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) degree with a concentration in Accounting from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and hold a Master of Science (MS) degree in Finance from the University of Houston. I am a licensed CPA, with a SHRM-CP credential in Human Resource Management.

Having lived in the Midwest and Texas, I moved to Chicago in 2001.  I have enjoyed working with staff to educate them on how to tell the organization’s story through numbers.

Should you find yourself in need of Accounting, Finance and/or HR expertise, I look forward to being able to provide the solutions that make you successful.
